An anonymous fan of Hamsexy submitted this gem:
Here is a photo of a CAP Vehicle in Salem, Oregon. I Think it fits your style! WTF mike do you grab if you hear something?
I left this image in it’s original size (click on the thumbnail to see the full, 200k version) because there are many nuances that make this image great:
a) Why not finish the wood of the obviously home-made console? Even a little Linseed oil or even a few coats of Varathane will spruce up that plywood.
b) The blatantly illegal FRS set-up – come on, even Hams should know better
c) The base of the console that looks like it was stolen from the set of St. Elsewhere
d) The Holy Card on the wall (If any Hamsexy Catholics can ID the card, please let us know)
e) The absolutely ANCIENT commercial rigs (obviously set up to transmit) they have on public safety rigs, when a lawnchair, a cooler, a Yaesu portable and a Uniden scanner would serve nicely.
f) The huge tangle of microphone cords going every which way, seemingly into light sockets, speakers, thin air, etc.
Speaking of Cathoclism, just in case anyone was wondering, Gabriel the Archangel is the Patron Saint of Amateur Radio. Being God’s messenger throughout the Bible, and the sounder of the trumpet on Judgement Day, it’s an obvious choice. St. Gabe is also the Patron Saint of stamp collectors, broadcasters, Portugal, Argentinean ambassadors and postal workers. So now you know. I shall say a prayer to Gabriel tonight for my hobby.
If you are talking about the card over the switch panel, it appears to be one of those Police/Baseball Cards of a K-9 officer. You can see the officer kneeling next to a dog if you zoom in…Adam
Haha, where’s the illegal FRS setup?
Nice ancient ass CB, as well.
The illegal FRS setup would be that truly sexy Midland radio dead center (you know, the one with the big FRS label on it? 🙂
If nothing else… System-90-sexy!
I do like the obviously inkjet-printed Warning signs…
“If you don’t know what Frequency the radio you are using is on DON’T touch it.”
What a mess. How anyone could sit in front of that lot with pride is beyond me.
Those coiled cords going into light fittings are somewhat stretched power cords. Those are wander lights.
I think this is in the back of an old military ambulance. That is the typical green they tend to use for interiors and the military placards just add to it. Also I don’t know why they are using an RT-524. Ham rigs have more output power without having to use a 24v DC power supply and HT-250 handsets. Inkjet printers make such great label makers, go out and spend $35 for a decent label maker!
Obviously someone with a serious Plywood fetish in need of “professional help”.
Do you mean CAP as in Civil Air Patrol? As far as I know, CAP isn’t supposed to have this type of gear around anymore. They switched over to NTIA complient stuff. All of this “junk” looks like it was built before the guy who came up with these standards was born.
Whatever…
