An anonymous fan of Hamsexy submitted this gem:
Here is a photo of a CAP Vehicle in Salem, Oregon. I Think it fits your style! WTF mike do you grab if you hear something?
I left this image in it’s original size (click on the thumbnail to see the full, 200k version) because there are many nuances that make this image great:
a) Why not finish the wood of the obviously home-made console? Even a little Linseed oil or even a few coats of Varathane will spruce up that plywood.
b) The blatantly illegal FRS set-up – come on, even Hams should know better
c) The base of the console that looks like it was stolen from the set of St. Elsewhere
d) The Holy Card on the wall (If any Hamsexy Catholics can ID the card, please let us know)
e) The absolutely ANCIENT commercial rigs (obviously set up to transmit) they have on public safety rigs, when a lawnchair, a cooler, a Yaesu portable and a Uniden scanner would serve nicely.
f) The huge tangle of microphone cords going every which way, seemingly into light sockets, speakers, thin air, etc.
Speaking of Cathoclism, just in case anyone was wondering, Gabriel the Archangel is the Patron Saint of Amateur Radio. Being God’s messenger throughout the Bible, and the sounder of the trumpet on Judgement Day, it’s an obvious choice. St. Gabe is also the Patron Saint of stamp collectors, broadcasters, Portugal, Argentinean ambassadors and postal workers. So now you know. I shall say a prayer to Gabriel tonight for my hobby.
