See you there!
See you there!
Hamsexy’s resident sports guru Escomm has organized a Hamsexy Fantasy Baseball pool. If you are interested in joining, click on this link for details (you must be a member of the Hamsexy forums (and be smart enough to figure out how to log in) in order to see this message.)
Tire kickers or people who join and never return will be booted from the league – please only join if you are serious about taking part! You don’t need to know anything about Fantasy Sports leagues to join – this is a fun league! It also costs nothing to take part.
See you in center field!
It was a good net as always.
Jaymz had some microphone problems so K3BM filled in and the following brethren came in to say “Hi” :

N8FQ – Joe
VA2VAX – Jean

VA3FIS – Tom
KC8ZLK – Dan
Jaymz had a few seconds of live microphone and it alternated between sounding like an echo chamber to a midget caught in a band saw. Perhaps he will show pictures of the microphone burning up after he tossed it in the fire.
There was a thread on RadioReference about Sundance Citizens on Patrol’s website, a site about some civilians deputizing themselves with ranks and doing traffic assist. There really wasn’t much to it, and we decided not to post anything on the front page about it. The self-imposed ranks were kinda funny, but there wasn’t much meat there. A thread was created on our forums regarding the thread on RR, a few comments were made. We weren’t going to bother posting it on this site, as we didn’t really see the point. They seemed innocent enough, and didn’t do anything to us.
That is, until one of their members, a Capt. Peden, decided to PM one of our moderators with an utterly ridiculous threat:
Dear Moderator of Sundance Citizens Patrol Thread,
I find the comments reguarding Sundance Citizens Patrol and Emergency Services on your site to be slanderous at best and am requesting the it be immediately removed from the site and/ or the forum to be closed. The material is offensive and vulgur and needs to be removed immediately. If this is not done so in a timely manner I will report this website to my attorney who will take legal action. I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that it is still illegal to slander someone and the moderator and or creater of the website will be held liable for anything posted on their website. This may include fines, penalties, closure of the site, and if I remember correctly I believe jail time as well. I don’t know I guess I will need to contact him. But in any case our rank structure is no ones business, but our own since it is used internally only. In addition personal comments reguarding myself are just plain rude and that is called sexual harrassment… is there a need for me to go any further?
Woah. Hold the phone. Threats? Threats of legal action? Sexual harassment? Against an innocent website, and a moderator who had nothing to do with the thread, who also happens to be a police officer? This will not stand.
If this is the kind of public relations that Sundance Citizens on Patrol has, we here at Hamsexy question their intentions and management. Accusing us of libel (learn the difference between libel and slander before you go accusing people of it) and sexual harrassment against Peden (who is a female), where clearly none exists? Is this how this group deals with such matters, falsely accusing us of crimes in an attempt to scare us into locking an innocent thread on our message forums? I don’t think so. We are consulting our legal team as to what to do next. Accusations of sexual harassment are very serious, and we will be debating about what to do next. Stay tuned.
Happy Lunar New Year to all of our Asian readers and friends. I was in Taiwan for Chinese New Year last year – and it was a blast…. 8 days off right after Christmas… No wonder the Chinese were inventing paper and food while the rest of the world was…. well…. not inventing paper and food, I guess.
It’s especially important for us, seeing as though 2007 on the Chinese calender is the Year of the Pig.
All of us here at Hamsexy wish you and yours a very good Year of Ham! Gong xie fa coi!
Those of you in or near the west Michigan area might be interested in knowing that the Muskegon Area Amateur Radio Council is going to hold a midnight VE session at their clubhouse in North Muskegon to celebrate the end of the code requirement. The festivities will begin on the evening of Thursday the 22nd, with the test being held Friday morning at 12:01 AM Eastern Standard Time. We’ll have pizza and snacks, and of course the radios will be running. We’ll try to contact W1AW’s special event and get a few of those “first contact” certificates.
As mentioned before, this will be going on at the MAARC clubhouse on 2888 Scenic Drive in North Muskegon. To get there, take US-31 to Skyline Drive (US-31 Business exit), then get on M-120 and follow it north, where it becomes Whitehall Road just over the bridge by the power plant. Take Whitehall Road north to River Road, then turn west and follow River Road to Scenic Drive. Go north and you will soon find the sign by the road indicating the location of the clubhouse’s driveway. There will, of course, be a talk-in on the 146.94 repeater.
As I write this, I am left wondering why the “west MI bureau chief” Mark K8MHZ didn’t post this by now…
Update! The session was somewhat successful. We had about 3 people show up to upgrade, two of which did so: Shawn KB8UFI got a paper upgrade, and Don KC8SHZ passed the test. Unfortunately, the HF bands proved to be useless, only two contacts were made, neither of which involved the USA’s first two no-code Generals. But we tried.
The Hamsexy Net was held, and hosted by K3BM with the following demented people stopping in to say hi.
N8FQ – Joe
KE4NOY – Matt from WARP-RADIO.COM
KD4YYF – John
KD8CPP – Tyler

No real topic tonight, so we talked about what projects are going on and it was good to hear a bunch of hammies thinking about the general license. Getting on the air is the only way to start making the OF’s either accept you or move on.
Catch you all next week !
Today, we will be shedding light on N.E.A.R. – the “National Emergency Assistance Radio Team” (Shouldn’t that be N.E.A.R.T.?)
Boy oh boy. Where to start. Their logo is a bad rip-off of the REACT logo, and whoever designed their logo (and designed their website… and whoever writes messages on behalf of the group) has the English skills of a recent immigrant three year old retard with no arms. But I digress…..
Their website is pure comedic gold. It’s so bad I had a really hard time believing that it’s true. But… sadly… it seems to be. If retards like these are what is on the front lines of homeland security, we’re all doomed. Check out this gem from their EOC page… some sort of generic terror alert obviously written by someone’s young child:
The United State Home Land Security Has Issue a Threat Alert For The EastCoast of the United State A Threat Alert for the East Cost Of The U.SThat Inclueds New York Washtion DC The Threat Level has gon from Yellow Alert To a Ornge Alert Please be avised that Check points have ben setup in Bouth of these City and there Will be Street Near The White House and The Captel which will be closed allso Down Town New York Car are Being not aloud in the Wall Street The Public is being ask not to go in to The Wall Street becose of the Havey Security
The leader of this group (who calls himself the “Supreme Commander”) seems to be the one with the superior english skills. He’s posted a few times advertising this group, which can be found here and here. They also offer advice on how to start your very own CERT team.
The group (and the site) appears to have been dormant for some time, but when you read the press release announcing the formation of the group, it’s easy to understand why. Would you put your life in the hands of someone who specializes in “surch & rescut”?
