An SK bulletin waiting to happen….

Good friend of the site Bigham submitted a great series of photos to this thread on the Hamsexy Forums. Danke schön to Anders KI4IWX for stitching together this ghastly panorama of the whole shack from the provided photos (click on the image for the full-size, cobwebby goodness:

We are not exactly too sure how much of this junk actually powers up and works, but needless to say his hydro bill is probably through the fucking roof (not to mention the heat all those boatanchors must give off).

Be sure to visit the thread to see the other great photos of this future Silent Key’s ghastly shack, which we are sure is ready to short out and kill the operator any day now.

Caprice Hooptie!!

It’s times like these that make me happy that I carry a camera with me when I work on the road. My partner and I happened to stop at WalMart the other day and found this gem. Definately old school caprice with (from a distance) looked like quite the little whacker-mobile. Upon closer inspection I found the following. As always, click on the picture to get the larger version.

Please note the last 2 pictures. Have several antennas on the roof… drilled… ok. Probably dummy antennas. But then the mag mount, which in of itself is not terrible… but then drill a hole for the coax? Are you KIDDING me?!

Whackin’ it up in Queens

While walking to the subway tonight, I stumbled upon this gem.

I’ve seen this whacker around before, but I’ve never been able to catch a photo… until now.

Check out the rainbow “KEEP CLEAR 200 FT” on the rear of this Exploder, in colorful stick-on letters. Of course, there’s a full compliment of magmounts and emergency lights.

I think perhaps the best part about this sighting is that he used his emergency siren (or horn in this case), to go around traffic and run a red light (making a right on a red in NYC is very illegal).

Make sure you click on the 3rd picture to see him in the act. Tsk tsk.

I guess the driver was in a rush after stopping in at the Money Mart to cash a check (which is what he was doing).

Sussex NJ Hamfest

Another beautiful Sunday and another $6 to get into the Sussex County Amateur Radio Club’s 2006 Hamfest. I ran into forum member “Polar_rescue” who contributed a few photos. I also have  acouple that I took with my cellphone to add as well. So, without further delay. (you can click on the pictures for larger versions)

Instead of getting a Flea Market spot we have the ever faithful “Eat at Joe’s” method of selling your wares.

Chris was nice enough to take a photo of a fine Hamsexy T-Shirt talking to a guy who thought his hat repelled death rays from the sun. It takes all kinds, folks…

Four Wheel Drive Hamabout

RF Dominator on Channel 3 huh? “Breakah won Niiinnnnee!!”

There are some things that should NOT be sold at a Hamfest. “Get a hydrogen fuel cell to power your hamabout”

And last but certainly not least. The obligatory pile of junk on a blue tarp for everyone to dig through.

Happy Fourth of July!!

american_flag.jpgHappy 4th of July!!

We all aren’t just reflecting on our nation’s independance today, we are honoring the foundation of blood, sweat, tears, hard work and sacrifice our country was built on.

America was an experiment in freedom and democracy, a radical idea in times where radical ideas were met with prejudice and violence. The result of which have led to the USA, for hundreds of years, being a beacon of hope and freedom for the rest of the world. The USA, for hundreds of years, being an open port for those seeing a better life.

Everyone, on this day, needs to put their politics and differences aside and honor the USA on the 4th – and remember the struggle it took to get to this point.

Hamsexy wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for the freedoms granted to us – this is a forum of free speech and opinion that wouldn’t be able to exist anywhere else, in any other time.

Honor the 4th, and have a great holiday!

Happy Canada Day!

Canadian flag.gifHappy Canada Day from all of us at Hamsexy.com

Many staff and members of Hamsexy.com come from up north, and today (July 1st) they are celebrating their country’s 139th birthday.

It’s fitting that the world’s two largest and friendliest nations celebrate their national birthdays only 3 days apart. To all of our North American friends, have a great holiday!!
